St. Ignatius proudly joined UK Parliament Week, engaging students in democracy and the role of Parliament.
During a special assembly, Years 11-13 students passionately advocated for topics ranging from education to climate change. After a vote, Youth and Young People’s Services, presented by Cosabella Windsor and Macaylee Watler, was chosen as the top issue to be submitted for a UK Parliament debate.
We welcomed Susan Burke from the Cayman Islands Parliament, who shared insights into the political process. Alongside her was the Speaker’s Bear, a visitor from the UK’s House of Commons, who joined Jade Robinson and Jackie Acosta (Y13) in teaching younger students about democracy.
Special thanks to our presenters and participants for making this week meaningful. We await the results of the chosen debate topic!
