These vibrant fields of study are not merely subjects but pathways to cultural appreciation, self-exploration, and emotional expression.

Performing Arts at St Ignatius

At St. Ignatius Catholic School, we firmly believe in the transformative power of the arts, placing art, music, and drama at the heart of our curriculum. These vibrant fields of study are not merely subjects but pathways to cultural appreciation, self-exploration, and emotional expression.

In our community, students are provided with an invaluable space to express themselves creatively, whether that’s by painting a unique piece, performing a dramatic role, composing music, or engaging in the various other forms of artistic expression available. Here, innovation and creativity are not just encouraged; they are integral to the holistic development of every student who walks through our doors.

Theatre Apprenticeship Scheme (TAS) at St. Ignatius

At St. Ignatius Catholic School, our Theatre Apprenticeship Scheme (TAS) is a cornerstone of our commitment to practical, hands-on learning within the arts. This unique program is designed to immerse students in the theatrical arts, offering avenues for both personal and academic growth while ensuring a well-rounded experience.

Through TAS, students have the opportunity to explore various facets of theatrical production, gaining insights and experience in areas including, but not limited to:

  • Accounting
  • Conducting
  • Producing
  • Assistant Directing
  • Choreography
  • Costume Design
  • Lighting Engineering & Design
  • Makeup Design & Artistry
  • Marketing
  • Sound Engineering & Design
  • Stage Management
  • Homework Club
  • Chaplaincy Support

Our students are given the freedom and responsibility to lead and innovate in these areas, fostering a sense of ownership, pride, and professional real-world experience. Past participants have seen remarkable success, such as a student who conducted a professional orchestra and another who supported a Producer, contributing to the rich tapestry of our school productions. Others have thrived in roles involving stage management, costume creation, and many other crucial aspects of the performing arts.

At St. Ignatius, we recognize that each student possesses unique talents, and the TAS is our way of ensuring that everyone has a place to shine, contribute, and develop their skills for a future in the arts or any other professional pathway they choose to pursue.

Primary School Performances: Celebrating Milestones and Creating Memories

Every year, the halls of St. Ignatius Catholic School resonate with the joyous sounds and heartfelt performances of our primary school students. These events, deeply embedded in our school’s culture, provide our younger pupils with a platform to showcase their talents, learn valuable skills, and grow in confidence, all while celebrating important milestones in their educational journey.

The festive season begins with our enchanting Early Years Nativity play, where our youngest stars take the stage, bringing the timeless story to life. This magical experience is followed by the KS1 and KS2 Christmas Shows, featuring a delightful mix of music, drama, and dance that capture the spirit of the season and the creativity of our students.

In the spring, the school reflects and comes together during the Stations of the Cross presentation performed by Yr5 & 6. This solemn, poignant performance is a testament to our community’s shared values and the depth of our students’ understanding and empathy.

These performances are not just events but pivotal learning experiences that foster a sense of community, faith, and personal development.
