St. Ignatius Catholic School Years 9-13 students sit external examinations at different points in the school year.   Checkpoint, International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), and AS/A2 (A-Level) examinations are offered through Cambridge International Exams (CIE) and/or the Welsh Joint Examination Council (WJEC).

Year 9 Checkpoint Examinations (English and Mathematics) generally take place during the last week of April and/or the first week of May.

Years 10-13 CIE and WJEC Examinations normally take place between the first week of May and the end of June, although some examinations are scheduled during other months.  The St. Ignatius Timetable is provided to all students ahead of their examinations.  Examination results are available online from mid August or from the school office towards the end of August.
