Stage 3 - SCHOOL CLOSURE ‼️
Following the recent press conference and Cayman Islands Government directive to close all educational institutions in the Cayman Islands as a result of COVID-19 we would like to inform you that we have now implemented Stage 3 of our Virus/Disease Plan and as of Monday the 16th March 2020 St. Ignatius Catholic School will be closed to all students.
Current indications state that educational institutions must not resume until at least Monday the 27th April 2020.
We understand that our community may be shocked by this latest development however, it is essential for us to implement this directive to ensure the safety of our students, parents, staff and wider community.
We ask for your patience at this time, further communication will be shared with parents forthwith.
As always thank you for your support and understanding.
Update A: SCHOOL CLOSURE ‼️
Earlier this evening you were notified of our school closure commencing Monday 16th of March 2020 as a result of the Cayman Islands Government Directive and on-going situation in relation to Covid-19.
During these unprecedented circumstances, we ask for our parents patience over the next few days as our staff work towards finalising preparations for web-based learning.
Both Monday and Tuesday, the 16th and 17th of March, will be official vacation days for students. However, for those students in High school this is an ideal opportunity to ensure all homework tasks are completed and time is used for revision.
In order to ensure minimum disruption to our students learning, we will be commencing web-based learning as of Wednesday 18th March 2020 and this will continue until school reopens. There will be a break in web-based learning during our scheduled Easter vacation (4th April - 19th April).
We will follow up with more specific details early next week regarding the web-based learning arrangements. On receipt of this information, we kindly ask you to share this with your child/ren so that they can prepare for learning to commence on Wednesday.
Communications with the School:
During this period until school reopens on 27th April, most of our staff will be working either in school in shifts or remotely in consideration of their health and safety, with a very lean team in the school from an operational perspective.
We ask for your patience with email communication to staff and our administrative team, so that we can ensure our focus is on our students continued success and progress in their learning journey.
Additional Extensive Cleaning and Disinfecting:
We will also be taking the opportunity during this period to conduct additional extensive cleaning and disinfecting of our school premises and facilities.
As always we will continue to keep our parents and St. Ignatius community informed.
Wishing you and your family a peaceful weekend.
Mrs Emily Alexander Head of School
