The role of the School Governance Committee (SGC) is to provide stewardship and to work in close collaboration with the Pastor and the Principal to ensure fidelity to the School’s mission, strategic vision and values.
The main role of the School Governance Committee (SGC) is to advise on matters relating to the good and effective governance and stewardship of St.Ignatius Catholic School. By doing so, it helps ensure the Catholic identity, academic excellence, operational viability and sustainability of the school.
The School Governance Committee (SGC) works in close collaboration with the Pastor and Principal to ensure fidelity to the School’s mission, strategic vision and values. The SGC supports the school in the strategic planning for finance, development, and provides opportunities for consultation and discussion in the areas of expertise such as education, human resources, information technology, law, marketing, and communication.
Appointed by the Pastor, the role of an SGC member is voluntary. Individually and collectively, SGC members are expected to comport themselves in accordance with the SGC Code of Ethics and demonstrate integrity, competence, responsibility, accountability, fairness and transparency in their work.
The following are the members of the SGC:
Fr. Anthony Fernandes, SAC Parish Administrator
Fr. Anthony Fernandes is the Pastor of St Ignatius Church, Cayman Islands. He started his mission in the Cayman Islands in 2015 as Associate Pastor at St Ignatius Catholic Church. In 2025 he was appointed as Pastor by the Archbishop of the Detroit Archdiocese.
As Parish Administrator and with responsibility for our school, it is both a privilege and a duty to work with Mr. Peter Embleton, St. Ignatius Catholic School Principal, and teachers in the sacred task of forming our children in faith, knowledge, and virtue. Together, our home, our school, and our parish are called to be a living community of faith, where we place Christ at the centre of all we do, striving always to live for the greater glory of God.
Carlos de Serpa Pimentel
Carlos de Serpa Pimentel is Chair of the SGC and has served on both the SGC and previous governance committees. His children attended St Ignatius Catholic School. Together with his family, he is an active parishioner of St Ignatius Church. Carlos is a Partner of a Cayman Islands law firm. He brings his experience as a lawyer and business owner to the SGC.
Peter Embleton
Peter Embleton is the Principal of St Ignatius Catholic School. He has worked in the UK and the Cayman Islands in teaching, school leadership, and inspection. Peter joined St Ignatius Catholic School in 1997 and holds qualifications in Education and Educational Leadership.

Wil Pineau
Wil Pineau is the representative of the Parish Pastoral Council on the SGC. He has served on both the SGC and previous governance committees. His children attended St Ignatius Catholic School. Together with his family, he is an active parishioner of St Ignatius Church. Wil is CEO of the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce.
John-Michael Kirkconnell
John-Michael Kirkconnell is an alumnus and a current parent at the school. Together with his family, he is an active parishioner of St Ignatius Catholic Church. John-Michael is a Motion Media Designer and lends his experience in marketing and design to St Ignatius Catholic School.
Ryan Carlo Dumaguing
Ryan Carlo Dumaguing is a current parent at the school. Together with his family, he is an active parishioner of St Ignatius Catholic Church. Ryan brings a wealth of local building experience that he puts into use for the upkeep and improvement of the school’s existing facilities and projects.
Denize Solomon
Denize Solomon is the Chair of the St Ignatius Catholic School’s Home School Association (HSA). She has served on both the SGC and previous governance committees. She is a current parent and, together with her family, is an active parishioner of St Ignatius Catholic Church. Denize is an immigration and local licensing consultant.
